Barro’s Pizza Fights to Knock Out Arizona Hunger

Giving back to the Arizona community has always been important to the Barro family and helping out local organizations has been a great way for us to show gratitude to all of our loyal customers.

Food has always been near and dear to our family’s hearts and knowing that Arizona’s hunger rates are higher than national average; we knew something needed to be done.  That is why, in 2012, Barro’s Pizza decided that the first Tuesday of every December would be dedicated to helping end hunger in Arizona with our Doran Barro Holiday Hunger Fight.

Every year on this day, every Barro’s Pizza location donates ALL proceeds to St. Mary’s Food Bank.  In the past three years Barro’s has raised over $400,000, which has provided over three million meals to Arizona’s hungry.

“The Holiday Hunger Fight is very dear to my heart,” said Regina Barro. “I observed and helped my mom, Doran, every holiday season donating money, meals, and creating secret Santa bundles of presents and stockings for needy families, throughout my life.  Since becoming an adult, I do the same and include my family in giving as well.  My mom was so excited to team up with St. Mary’s and be able to help on an even larger scale than she did personally, and she was overjoyed at the success year after year!  It means the world to me to be a part of a family tradition that continues to give back to our community and help people and families that may need assistance.  My brothers and I are dedicated to continuing our parents’ love and selflessness for others throughout our lifetimes as well.   I love this about our family!”

Our fight to end Arizona hunger also happens to coincide with #GivingTuesday, a day dedicated to giving back. Join Barro’s on this global day of giving and help us fight Arizona hunger!
